Every November the Swartland Revolution comes and shakes up the sleepy little hollow called Riebeek Kasteel! This year an astounding 350 cowboys rode into to town and Moerby Kultuur welocmed them at Buck Horse Creek a recreated old western town for an authentic country and western barbeque. Nachos, espetadas, pork feijodas and tortillas were laid out and the wine flowed as the Baard Skeerders Bos Band entertained the guests late into the night. A spectacular event.
Swartland Revolution Menu
The food will be divided into three sections and
each will serve the same food and look exactly the same. I think the preparation
of the food will also add to a bit of theatre and entertainment and guest can
go back for more. On arrival guest will be served the original proposed Nachos
Mexicana to still the worst hunger pains after which we will start serving from
the 3 barbeque areas.
A
selection of four meats from the fire:
Lamb on the spit marinated by Delico with their
secret sauces injected into a week prior to the event and left to hang. The meat is absolutely beautiful and tender!
Large beef espetadas with spicy marinade prepared on
the open fires and served on hanging skewers
Crispy and herbed Southern Fried Chicken
Huge cast iron pots with the original proposed Pork
Feijoda
Corn on the cob with jalapeno butter roasted on the
fire
Classic three bean salad to add to the Cowboy’s
plate
Large green salads
Oak Smoked potato salad
Wraps
An assortment of sauces and relishes like guacamole,
tomato relish, cucumber raita, cheeses and fresh herbs with roasted tortillas
so people can prepare their own wraps with all the different meats
(Famous Brothel Dame)
Rich dark date, walnut and caramel pudding served in
an enamel tin cup with small bottle of warmed Jack Daniels.
Bourbon to be poured over warm dessert and flambéed!
